![]() ![]() If Ventura can't be conquered(which I think it will be), I'll erase everything and use Linux. These M1/M2 types are no different except that they have a T2 security chip that make it extremely hard to hack, and they will become obsolete too sooner than you think. They were still selling new G4 laptops when they quit supporting the IBM processors. They "vintagize" perfectly capable machines that are very expensive, and they've done it for years. ![]() I was so disgusted with Apple that I went with Windows until the B&W G3 came out. They developed Macwrite and MacPaint for that computer and that was it. I bought my first Macintosh on the first day they were available in 1984 for $2400. I have a long history with Apple and Macintosh. In the meantime, has anyone tried Ventura on a Mac Pro 5.1 with an Radeon HD 7950? I'm not giving up on Khronokernel and the geniuses at Github. I had two major annoying bugs with it but they were fixed either in 12.4 or 12.5 and I am having a blast playing around with the AirPlay feature. I finally updated my M1 mini and 2015 MacBook Pro to Monterey as 12.5 is stable enough for me now. The main feature that I want out of Ventura is the Weather App. I can only run it on my Apple Silicon Macs and am considering installing it on an external SSD to play around with. I had hoped that Ventura would be ready to try out by now but I'm getting antsy. ![]() My feeling is that I could replace both of the old Intel MacBook Pros with an M2 Air 15 - I really prefer laptops of 15 inches and up. Those are still decent machines to get work done. The 2014 is currently loaned out to a family member. The 2015 MacBook Pro is my backup laptop. I am thinking of keeping the 20 MacBook Pro 15s, though. I have a pretty long list of old Macs and two Apple Silicon Macs and am thinking of selling some of the old Macs and living with the Apple Silicon Macs. ![]()
